Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1

Do you smell what the Radiant Team is cooking, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania!?

The time has come. We’ve been waiting for this great event for far too long, and tonight, history will be written. We’re in for an incredible night of matches and the final chapter—no, the legendary chapter—of Cody Rhodes’ story. And I damn well believe it will be written in big, bloody letters. I can’t wait another second, so let’s jump into this magnificent PLE!

Opening Performance & Triple H’s Message

The show kicked off with Grammy Award winner Coco Jones singing a beautiful rendition of the U.S. national anthem. I’m used to American pop stars doing these openings, but something about her voice genuinely touched me. It hit a nerve in the best way, and I want to thank her for that moment. The crowd responded loudly, chanting “USA! USA!” with pride.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 1WrestleMania XL: Coco Jones singing American national anthem on WrestleMania.

Then came the King of Kings himself—Triple H. The CCO of WWE stepped out and officially declared that we are entering a New Era. His speech was short, but impactful. Still, I’m left wondering… what exactly does this "New Era" mean? Something in my gut says it might come with new champions. I hope I’m wrong.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 2WrestleMania XL: Paul Levesque announced a new Era in WWE.

Women’s World Championship: Becky Lynch vs. Rhea Ripley

The first match of the evening was a massive one. A long-anticipated battle between the two most dominant women in WWE today: The Man Becky Lynch and Mami Rhea Ripley. The stakes couldn’t be higher—Rhea was fighting to retain her title and extend her iron grip on the division. Becky, meanwhile, needed this win to prove to herself—and to the world—that she still belongs at the very top. Ripley made her entrance accompanied by a live performance, and it was impressive, powerful, and brutal—exactly like her. Both women showed up with fierce eye makeup that elevated their presence. As always, Rhea struck that perfect balance between raw power and intimidating beauty.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 3WrestleMania XL: How can you not trust in Mami and her dominance?

Now, even though Becky is tough and skilled, my sympathies were firmly with Mami tonight. This was the classic clash: a powerhouse vs. a technical striker. Becky had to rely on her strikes and try to land that one Manhandle Slam that could change everything. Rhea, on the other hand, had a simpler game plan: overpower Becky and crush her with the Riptide. But I already knew—one finishing move wouldn’t be enough tonight.

And I was right. We saw some excellent offense from Becky, only for Rhea to respond with brutal power moves. Early on, a quick knee to the jaw following a fallaway slam rattled Becky, but she powered through. At one point, Lynch locked in an armbar targeting Rhea’s injured arm, but the champion escaped with a series of devastating powerbombs, though her pin attempt fell short.

Rhea tried to end things with the Prism Trap, and her power kept Becky from reaching the ropes for a while—but The Man found her way out and landed the Manhandle Slam! A critical moment—but Mami kicked out! Becky was visibly frustrated and got caught off-guard by a counterattack. Rhea then hit her with the Riptide—but Becky kicked out of that too!

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 4WrestleMania XL: I was curious how Becky can lift Rhea but she did! How impressive is that what do you think?

One of the most beautiful sequences came when Becky delivered a Superplex and instantly transitioned into the Dis-arm-her. But Ripley refused to tap, rolled out of the ring with Becky on her shoulders, and smashed her into the floor. A Frog Splash followed—but still not enough to keep Lynch down. What more could they possibly do?

Rhea gave us the answer. She countered another Manhandle Slam and hit her own finishing move, followed by a second Riptide—and that was the end. Becky couldn’t survive it. The reign of the Women’s World Champion continues! Mami is still untouchable at the top of the mountain.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 5WrestleMania XL: Incredible height for Frog Splash and Rhea once again stands tall as champion.

Honestly? I don’t even think this match was Rhea’s toughest. Nia Jax did far more damage to her not long ago. But hey—congratulations to Rhea Ripley! Dominance on full display.

Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship Six-Pack Tag Team Ladder Match

Another championship match—and a unique one, never done in WWE before. Six teams had to use ladders to grab both sets of Tag Team Titles suspended above the ring. Sounds easy? In reality, it’s one of the hardest matches to win. I expected pure chaos—ladders flying, bodies crashing, and probably a few other tools getting involved. My personal favorites going in were New Catch Republic and The Judgment Day. We also had DIY, Awesome Truth, The New Day, and the wild card duo of Austin Theory and Grayson Waller. Everything was stacked against the champions tonight, but if they could survive this challenge, I’d have no choice but to call them the best tag team of the last decade.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 6WrestleMania XL: This type of match we have seen ever before in WWE so must be quite exciting!

It’s nearly impossible to describe the chaos of twelve men in the ring, so I’ll just highlight the biggest OMG moments.

To me, we had the villains: The Judgment Day, the sneaky snakes: Waller and Theory, and the rest were the good guys. Naturally, the good guys wanted to punish the bad guys, but Theory and Waller instantly tried to steal the win—only to be shut down just as fast. Ladders flew everywhere, and surprisingly, Finn Bálor and Damian Priest managed to take control early on.

New Catch Republic gave us an absolutely beautiful moment—a double moonsault from the top of a ladder onto everyone else. Just spectacular. And then there was R-Truth, the heart and soul of comedy and chaos. He tried to tag in The Miz, which makes no sense in a ladder match—but it was hilarious! He even tried to pin Finn Bálor. I love Ron. He’s pure entertainment. Sadly, he forgot the only way to win was to climb the ladder!

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 7WrestleMania XL: New SmackDown tag tam cahmpions Grayson Waller and Austin Theory.

And then—shock of the nightGrayson Waller and Austin Theory actually captured the SmackDown Tag Team Titles after getting rid of Awesome Truth! I could NOT believe that! They were still in the hunt for the Raw Titles, but New Catch Republic had other plans. They tossed Waller through a ladder, and that looked like the end of their night—though, honestly, they already walked away as champions. Not bad at all.

You may not believe it, but Austin Theory almost stole the Raw titles too! But once again, New Catch Republic shut him down. Tables got involved, and poor Johnny Gargano went head-first through one of them. Things escalated—everyone was down, and R-Truth looked like he was going to grab the Raw titles! But JD McDonagh ran in and hit Truth with the Devil Inside, setting the stage for Finn to climb.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 8WrestleMania XL: Can you imagine the pain Taylor feels after that White Noise from the top of the ladder? I don't even want to imagine.

And just when Judgment Day thought they had it, The New Day stormed in with steel chairs! JD’s night ended in glorious fashion—launched off the top of the ladder, through tables on the outside. That was epic.

Sad ending for the reigning tag champs. Damian Priest got cocky and wasted too much time at the top of the ladder, giving Awesome Truth the opening they needed. They knocked him down, and R-Truth climbed the ladder and captured the titles! What a moment for Miz and Ron! The crowd absolutely loved it.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 9WrestleMania XL: New Raw tag team champions Awesome Truth!

Judgment Day had at least two golden opportunities to retain at least one pair of titles, but now the Undisputed Tag Titles are gone. All that remains for them is Damian’s Money in the Bank briefcase. A painful loss for the long-reigning champs—and a new beginning for Judgment Day.

Familia Wars: Rey Mysterio & Andrade vs. Dominik Mysterio & Santos Escobar

We’re back to the heated confrontation within the Latino family. Father vs. son. Betrayer vs. mentor. And an unexpected alliance. Tonight’s tag match was either going to end this war—or spark an even bigger one. Personally, I believed Rey Mysterio and Andrade were going to win, especially if the match stayed clean. If there were no outside interferences, I was sure Rey would once again defeat his son. I hoped LWO would be close by to back up their leaders.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 10WrestleMania XL: Innovative offence move by Rey Mysterio and Andrade.

Also—I can’t ignore Zelina Vega’s outfit. She’s the most stunning woman in WWE in my opinion, and she always brings something unique and stylish to every big event.

This match was deeply personal for Rey—he was facing not just his disrespectful son, Dominik, but also Santos Escobar, a man who should’ve been the future leader of LWO, but instead turned his back on Rey. Andrade, meanwhile, just wanted to fight and prove himself as a partner to a legendary luchador.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 11WrestleMania XL: Santos also can show us some impressive moves.

The match started strong for Rey and Andrade. Rey controlled the early moments with his quickness and experience, but eventually Santos and Dirty Dom took the momentum with their dirty tactics. As always, the biggest little man in WWE impressed against both opponents—until he tagged in Andrade, who lit up the ring and destroyed both Dom and Santos with style. It looked like LWO would wrap things up quickly when Andrade neutralized Dominik, and Rey hit the 619. But then Angel interfered, giving Santos the advantage. Soon, all members of both factions were involved.

Dominik tried to use a steel chair—but two massive men from the crowd snatched it away. Turns out, they were Philadelphia Eagles players! I’m sorry, I didn’t catch their names, but they clearly made a huge impact.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 12WrestleMania XL: A new generation of latina superstars and Philadelphia Eagles

With the help of the Eagles’ distraction, Rey and Andrade turned the tables and sealed the win. A good match that made the crowd go wild—but mark my words, this war is far from over.

Brother vs. Brother: Jey Uso vs. Jimmy Uso

Another Samoan war between blood relatives. Tonight, two brothers will find out who the true number one in the dynasty is. Personally, I believe Jey will come out on top—Jimmy just hasn't shown much in the ring lately. Maybe The Bloodline will try to interfere, but if they don't, Jey should take this win. Let's not forget that Jimmy cost his brother wins over both the Tribal Chief and the Ring General. There's some serious bad blood here.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 13WrestleMania XL: Brother vs brtother battle where twins will not be on one side.

The match started right away—Jey didn’t waste a second. It kicked off at a slower pace as both brothers measured each other and tried to assert dominance. It was tough to tell who had the upper hand.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 14WrestleMania XL: Like it or not but the arena will chant "YEET" tonight!

This was an emotional match. Both brothers exchanged Superkicks, but Jimmy couldn’t win that duel. It’s clear Jey still loves his twin, but he knew he had to win tonight. At one point, Jimmy begged for mercy, but it was just a dirty trick. He used the distraction to hit a Superkick followed by a Samoan Splash, but it wasn’t enough for the win. Jimmy couldn’t capitalize, and Jey came back with a Spear and his own Samoan Splash to seal the victory. Another civil war ends, and solo Uso stands tall tonight.

Six-Woman Tag Team Match: Damage CTRL vs. Bianca Belair, Naomi & Jade Cargill

A massive tag team match with a big backstory. Damage CTRL has been making enemies in the locker room for a long time, and finally, a powerhouse trio has risen to shut them down. Naomi, Bianca, and Jade are probably the most physically dominant women in WWE right now, and I was confident they’d teach Kairi, Asuka, and Dakota a hard lesson tonight. The only wild card is Iyo Sky, but I think she's focused on her title match with Bayley. No more numbers game for the champs tonight.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 15WrestleMania XL: Kairi Sane has no fear and can show us moves other wrestlers refuse to perform.

Kabuki Warriors had an interesting entrance with costumed actors in Japanese style, but Bianca’s team was introduced in even more epic fashion. Damage CTRL started strong and controlled Naomi early, but once she tagged in Bianca, the EST of WWE cleaned house by herself. After a beautiful Moonsault on all three members of Damage CTRL, she tried to pin, but they kicked out as expected.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 16WrestleMania XL: Jade Cargill's brute strength is unquestionable.

The crowd wanted Jade—and when she finally got in, she took out every member of Damage CTRL one by one. I did feel like Jade looked a little rusty in spots, but her presence was still powerful. The match ended with Jade hitting her finisher on Dakota Kai. A fast and decisive victory for the powerhouse trio and an excellent debut for Jade Cargill.

Intercontinental Championship: Sami Zayn vs. Gunther

A huge night for Sami Zayn. Since leaving The Bloodline and losing his tag team titles, we haven’t seen Sami in many big storylines. But now, he’s stepping up to face the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time: The Ring General, Gunther. You already know I love Gunther—almost as much as Roman Reigns. He’s strong, skilled in the ring, and has recently improved a lot on the mic too. And most importantly, he’s a champion who fights his own battles.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 17WrestleMania XL: It's really cool to see these clashes between legends and new rising stars.

Gunther has beaten legends like Sheamus, Drew McIntyre, Bronson Reed, and Jey Uso. Now he faces Zayn, possibly his toughest mental challenge yet. Before the match, Sami got strong support from his wife, son, and even motivational words from Chad Gable and his best friend Kevin Owens. With that kind of support, Sami came into this match with ultimate strength. We were about to witness a war.

Gunther entered with supreme confidence—maybe even underestimating Sami. We all know how dangerous Sami can be under pressure. He came out aggressive, but Gunther shut that down quickly. The crowd was split, with half cheering for Sami and half for Gunther.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 18WrestleMania XL: A fired up Sami Zayn could be a truly dangerous force even for a dominant champion like Gunther.

Gunther lit Sami up with vicious chops that turned his chest bright red. But Zayn kept fighting back. The match swung back and forth, with both men landing their signature moves. Gunther caught Sami with a dropkick during a Helluva Kick attempt, followed by a brutal powerbomb—but somehow, Sami kicked out.

One finisher wasn’t enough tonight. Even Sami’s Helluva Kick didn’t put away the champ. Gunther then leveled Zayn with a lariat and hit three more powerbombs—yet Sami still kicked out! I couldn’t believe it. I’ll be honest, it felt unrealistic at times, but we can say Sami was just fueled by emotion and love for his family.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 19WrestleMania XL: How scary it looks when a person of that size lands on you.

Gunther could’ve ended it, but he wanted to punish Sami—splashing him repeatedly and delivering more powerbombs. But somehow, Sami found a third wind, landed a Helluva Kick from the top rope, followed by a Brainbuster, and then delivered two more Helluva Kicks to finally end Gunther’s record-breaking reign.

Sami Zayn is the new Intercontinental Champion!

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 20WrestleMania XL: Ultimate Underdog is now your Intercontinental Champion.

Honestly, I’m frustrated and a little upset. It felt too unrealistic for me. I don’t think he should’ve won—but he did. The era of Gunther is over. But don’t worry, we’ll see the Ring General back at the top very soon.

General Managers Took a Word

Both Nick Aldis and Adam Pearce took a moment to thank us—and everyone around the world—for our support and energy. That was really sweet of them :) By the way, tonight we had 72,543 people live in the arena! What a crowd!

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 21WrestleMania XL: Nick Aldis and Adam Pearce announcing that tonight arena is totally sold out!

Tag Team Match: Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes vs Roman Reigns and The Rock

Finally, we got to the main event of Day 1. The match that would decide whether Roman vs. Cody tomorrow will be under Bloodline Rules or remain a fair fight. It was a dangerous and risky battle where anything could happen. Rollins, who is set to face Drew McIntyre tomorrow, risked everything by stepping into the ring tonight with the Bloodline. And the big return—The Rock performing in-ring once again! The Final Boss was ready to show us what he's still capable of in 2024, and I was honestly hoping for a performance of the century.'

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 22WrestleMania XL: Acknowledge your Tribal Chief and the Bloodline.

Each competitor had their own goals: Roman wanted to secure the Bloodline advantage for tomorrow, Cody was fighting to cleanse the industry and end the Bloodline's grip on it, and The Rock had a twisted plan—to gift Rhodes' mother a championship belt drenched in her son's blood. The match felt personal and brutal. And it was interesting to see how former enemies, Cody and Seth, stood united tonight against perhaps the most dominant force in modern WWE history.

The entrances alone took nearly 20 minutes, and The Rock debuted his own championship belt, something resembling a “People’s Championship.” It looked cool and intimidating. Everyone had a title on their shoulder—except Cody. Poor Cody... you already know my attitude toward him.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 23WrestleMania XL: This match should be brutal, and the Final Boss brought back his Attitude Era moments.

The match kicked off with two former Shield brothers: Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. That hit emotionally—reminded me of the times they ran the game as The Shield. Reigns traded blows with both opponents until he eventually tagged in The Rock. That was a massive moment—The Great One performing in-ring in 2024. Rollins tested him first, and The Final Boss hit us with some of his classics. But you could tell—he’s slower than he was in the Attitude Era, more of a powerhouse now than a quick striker. Cody’s time in the ring with The Rock felt deeply personal, considering the punishment he suffered weeks ago. Rhodes and Rollins were more dominant in the early moments.

Then the match descended into complete chaos. Since The Rock is a board member, he restarted the match under No Holds Barred rules, and the fight spilled outside the ring using every weapon and piece of the environment possible. Roman focused on Cody, while Seth took care of The Great One. It was hard to say who had the upper hand—each man had his highs and lows until they finally returned to the ring.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 24WrestleMania XL: Former Shield brothers facing each other not first time. Could be cool to see champion vs champion match between them.

The Rock ruthlessly targeted Rollins’ injured knee, potentially ruining his chances in tomorrow's title defense. The referee couldn’t even count properly, as The Final Boss threatened to fire him right in the ring.

Rollins endured hell, facing punishment from both Bloodline leaders. A low blow from The Rock, delivered old-school style, almost ended it there. The Bloodline tried everything to stop Rollins from tagging Cody. It nearly ended when Rock locked in a Sharpshooter, but Cody saved his partner just in time, allowing Seth to hit a Stomp on The Rock—but Rollins couldn’t cover due to his bad knee.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 25WrestleMania XL: Seth Rollins finally get his legs on the head of The Final Boss.

We got Roman and Cody one-on-one, and after another Cody Cutter, the champion's face was soon painted in blood. Then Cody and Seth came together, hitting a barrage of superkicks, followed by a Stomp and Crossroads to Reigns. It should’ve been over. But The Rock pulled the referee out at the last second. Oh, and he didn’t forget about Mama Rhodes—he went back for his sick “gift,” a belt soaked in Cody’s blood. First of all, he lost the belt pretty fast. Second, Cody ruined The People’s Elbow, and then Roman accidentally speared his own partner. Even a double Pedigree from Cody and Seth couldn’t get the win.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 26WrestleMania: Classic situation when wrestler steal his opponent finisher.

The climax kicked off with a massive Rock Bottom from Cody through the commentary table on Great One, followed by a brutal Spear from Roman through the barricade on Seth. Everyone was running on fumes. One last move could end it all. Cody delivered two Crossroads on champion, but The Rock once again interfered with the belt, giving Roman the opening for a final Spear, setting up The Rock to finish Cody with a Rock Bottom and People’s Elbow. The Bloodline secured the win.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 27WrestleMania XL: The Rock put final cut in this tag team match making Cody's match under Bloodline rules.

Tomorrow, Cody walks into hell, and honestly, I don’t think he’s making it out. Not under Bloodline Rules.

Final Thoughts – WrestleMania Night 1

🌟 Rhea Ripley vs Becky Lynch

Rhea Ripley finally shut down Becky Lynch. She didn’t just beat her—she outclassed her. This wasn’t about proving she belonged anymore—this was about solidifying herself as the woman in WWE. You could feel the energy shift as Becky slowly faded and Ripley stood tall, still champion.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 28WrestleMania XL: What can I say but "Mammi always on top!"

Now that she’s crushed The Man… seriously, who’s left to challenge her? If you ask me, it might take a whole new level of monster to even shake Rhea at this point. Good luck to the women’s division.

💔 Judgment Day Fallout

It’s a tough night to be part of Judgment Day...

  • Finn Bálor and Damian Priest dropped their tag titles, and the whole match just screamed off. Sure, they still had moments of control, but something wasn’t clicking, and now they’re walking away without gold. Sad way to end a dominant run.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 29Wrestlemania XL: Now only Mammi left title on her shoulder. Seems to me that plan of total dominance over all titles now is nothing more just a dream.

  • And Dominik Mysterio? Once again, he couldn’t overcome his dad—Rey and Andrade handed him another loss. This feels like a rerun, but man, it still hurts to watch. Judgment Day is wobbling, and if this keeps up, they might completely implode.

I wouldn't be surprised if they start pointing fingers after tonight. Priest especially must be fuming.

⚔️ Jey Uso vs Jimmy Uso – Civil War

This match hit different. Emotional, personal, and surprisingly clean. No interferences, no tricks—just two brothers finally letting it all out. Jey fought from the heart and came out on top. Jimmy looked lost, and something tells me the Bloodline’s not going to forgive that. Jey is breaking out more and more as a singles star, and I love it. He’s got the charisma, the fan support, and tonight, he proved he’s stronger than his past.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 30WrestleMania XL: The future of Jimmy Uso now is grimm in Bloodline family. i am sure something is coming and probably he will be somehow punished for that loss.

💎 Jade Cargill’s Debut

Jade Cargill did not come to play. Teaming with Bianca and Naomi, she just stomped all over Damage CTRL like they were warm-up practice. From the moment she walked out, Jade had that aura—a superstar’s glow. And when she delivered the final blow, you just knew this was the beginning of something big. Honestly? I smell gold coming her way, and fast. If Jade and Bianca team up again, the tag titles might as well start packing their bags.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 31WrestleMania XL: One of the most epic entrances on Day One.

🏆 Intercontinental Championship – Sami Zayn vs Gunther

This might’ve been the match of the night—pure wrestling storytelling at its finest. Gunther brutalized Zayn with those signature chops and powerbombs, making every second feel like a death sentence. But Sami just wouldn’t stay down. He took everything and somehow found the will to land four Helluva Kicks in a row to finally bring down the Ring General. Was it a little much at the end? Sure. But you know what? It worked. Sami winning in front of his family, fighting through pain, was exactly the moment he needed.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 32WrestleMania XL: The goal is reached but who will fae Sami for this gold now? I doubt that Gunther will.

Gunther’s reign is over, but not his legacy—I’d bet good money his next stop is the world title scene.

🎬 Main Event Fallout – Cody & Seth vs Roman & The Rock

Bloodline Rules are officially in effect.

Seth Rollins may have stepped up like a true friend, but his injured knee might’ve cost them everything. He’s now limping into a world title defense while Cody walks straight into hell alone. The Rock? Yeah, he still has it—but not like he used to. He’s a power hitter now, not a fast mover, and he used every dirty trick in the book to help Roman. I’ll say it: Cody and Seth should’ve won. They had it. But The Final Boss used his boardroom power to twist the odds and steal the win. Now, Cody is outnumbered, banged up, and facing an unbeatable Roman with the full Bloodline at his back.

Wrestlemania 2024 Day 1 post image 33WrestleMania XL: Do you smell what the Bloodline is cooking for tomorrow?

Finish the story? Man… I’m starting to think the story might finish him instead.

Tomorrow, we’re in for a historic night—massive title matches, rivalries reaching their final chapter, and the biggest question of them all: Will Cody finally finish his story, or be written off in history forever?Don’t miss it—see you soon!
